Nett protects your financial data by keeping everything in your private iCloud account. Here is exactly how.
1. Who we are
Nett is operated by Eric Lagarda ("we", "us", or "our"), reachable at [email protected]. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Nett app and the website at getnett.app.
2. The short version: we collect almost nothing
Nett is built around a core privacy principle: your financial data never reaches our servers. All transactions, categories, contacts, and tax settings are stored exclusively in your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. We cannot see it, access it, or use it — it belongs entirely to you. This means that even if our systems were compromised, your financial data would be unaffected.
3. What little data we do handle
In the app: your financial data goes only to your private iCloud · document OCR is performed on-device (free tier) · only extracted text (never the image) is sent to an AI analysis service (premium tier), without storing it after processing.
On getnett.app: your email address if you join our waitlist · Vercel Analytics. Does not use tracking cookies or personal identifiers.
We never collect: payment card details, your name or address, advertising profiles, or document images on our servers.
4. Document processing and OCR
On-device analysis: when Apple Intelligence is available, OCR and AI analysis run on your device. The text never leaves your iPhone.
Secure fallback: if on-device analysis is unavailable and you explicitly consent, only the extracted text (not the image) is sent to a secure AI analysis service. We do not store this text after processing is complete.
5. Subscriptions and payments
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We never see or store your payment card details.
6. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data under: contract performance (to provide you with the Nett service), legitimate interests (to improve the app and fix bugs), and consent (for optional communications such as the waitlist).
7. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations. Waitlist email addresses are deleted within 30 days of Nett's public launch, unless you opt in to further communications.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their national data protection authority.
9. Third-party services
Apple CloudKit — data storage · AI analysis service — only used for fallback AI analysis when on-device Apple Intelligence is unavailable and consent is granted · EmailOctopus — waitlist email management · Vercel — website hosting.
10. Children's privacy
Nett is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Nett after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
